One of GN customers in USA purchased 1 set GN mud cleaner years ago, they are planning to purchase GN centrifugal pumps to feed those 2 sets cyclones.
QUESTION: When plumbing the overflow from the de-sanding cones directly to the inlet to the
desliming (mud) cones is the pressure loss minimal such that the 4" cones will still operate efficiently?
If the slurry flow pressure entering the inlet to the 10" hydro cyclones is at least 60 psi or more would the pressure of the overflow/outflow from the 10" cones going directly to the 4" cone bank be sufficiently high enough for the 4" cones to operate properly?
I called yesterday but could not reach you. My question is critical to our decision on a pump (s) for the unit in question. Our slurry is 16 mesh minus with most of it around 60 mesh and the slurry (pulp) density is about 1.28. Is it just as efficient to pump directly to the 4" cones and bypass the 10" cones?
Will the 10" cones operate at 70 psi or is that too high?......assuming we have to go through the 10" cones first. I was told that the cones will not operate at 80 psi which was our thoughts thus the question for 70 psi. I know they spec out at 35 to 58 psi. One pump can be used to feed the 10inch and 4inch cyclones at the same time, but it cannot be used to pump into 10inch cyclones first and connect the overflow pipe with 4inch feeding inlet.
70psi can be used in your situation. Yes, it's better not to overpass 80psi as some turbulent flow will occur when the pressure is too large.
